How can people possibly believe ethanol will solve our gas crisis?
There are several flaws in your reasoning. first, the Hummer can not be blamed for any gas crisis. While admitting that it is one of the most fuel thirsty vehicles on (or off) the road, there aren't enough of them to have a significant impact on the world fuel situation. For every Hummer there are 600 other large SUVs. Second, Purina does not belong to BP. It is a subsidiary of Nestle. Ethanol and its effects on third world food prices it not a problem for Americans. Its not our fault that they can't grow enough food to feed their own people. If those regions have more population than their land can support its time for a population decrease. Who do you think you are to tell farmers they shouldn't sell their crop to the highest bidder? If you are against capitalism that makes you a socialist or something worse. Last of all the war in Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks on September 11 or with the desire for oil. The war was about President Bush's personal grudge against Saddam Hussein. Iraq's refusal to let U.N. inspectors do their jobs was the excuse for the invasion. The war never should have happened but now we are there and we need to stay there until the country is stable enough to take care of itself. One final comment: if mexicans can't afford tortillas they should change their habits and eat something else.
