Ok now what do I do, Walk me through it!!?

So I've been on here in the last few weeks talking about my goldfish woes. I am very determined that the one gold fish I have a red fan tail, lives! I went out today and bought a 10 gallon tank with a filter and air. I have testing strips for nitrates amonia and everything else. I have gravel a thermometer a new net aquarium salt, water conditioner everything you all have suggested. Now is it possible for me to cycle this new tank with my fish in it? If not what do I do with my fish while I'm cyceling? Right now I have him in a one gallon tank with nothing else in it and I do 25% water changes 2xs a day. How long can she last like that? I have contacted a friend who has an established tank and asked for some gravel a plant whatever she can give me that will seed my tank. This is the thing. I am trying to right my wrong of getting a fish without knowing properly how to care for it. I want to give this fish a good life. The other fish I have had that died in the old tank were called "feeder fish" I am told they aren't taken very good care of by the breeders so they may have been carrying disease. Can I use any of the decorations from my old tank? Don't answer and tell me I am a fish killer or ignorante. I need step by step instructions on how to get the new tank ready and what to do with my fish in the mean time. Simplify it for me please I am new to this so I know I have allot to learn and I am willing to do so. Any real help here would be wonderful because I truley don't know where else to look. Thanks
