Any advice on how to take a 18 month old off the pacifier?!?

just throw all of them out and dont mention it. if he cries for it, tell him sorry but hes a big boy now so all of the pacifiers went to go live with the babies. he needs to learn to selfsooth instead of relying on a object. hes old enough that it has no medical benefits and it will start effecting his teeth and speech.
